Aggressive allergens

What are aggressive allergens?
Aggressive allergens are those more likely to cause symptoms in a patient, because the body reacts to them in a more intense way. Some allergens are simply more aggressive than others, where a smaller amount is needed to trigger an allergic reaction. Some allergens can be made more aggressive by interaction with the environment, as is the case with pollens affected by air pollution.

In both instances, the presence of aggressive allergens is used to explain an increased prevalence of allergic symptoms and an increase in the number of polysymptomatic sufferers, as well as a propensity for symptoms to affect individuals for longer. It has been suggested that rising levels of pollution are making traditional allergens more aggressive.
